Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar & Ukulele Teacher

Travis Medeiros

Travis started playing guitar at the age of 6 after hearing his dad perform a Wes Montgomery chord melody. His main style of playing is derived from jazz, and he has earned awards in this idiom. In 2013, Travis won Best Outstanding Instrumentalist at the Big Apple Classic Music Festival in New York City, and he was awarded The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award the following year.

He earned his Bachelor’s at Rhode Island College, studying Jazz under saxophone phenom Greg Abate. Since then, Travis has done session work for major labels such as Def Jam and Sony Entertainment, and also has recorded (and still records) at platinum studios in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York City.

Travis’s other favorite styles are blues, soul, r&b, hip hop, and rock, but he enjoys playing any genre of music. With almost twenty years of experience, and eleven years of teaching, Travis teaches with the philosophy of adaptation and individualization, so all of his students are able to meet- and then exceed – their personal goals.
