Be ready to capture the season with these crowd pleasers that can be ready in as little as an afternoon.

Piano Man – Billy Joel

This song is a classic. The introduction alone is as recognizable as it is iconic, and is made up of only a few notes! Beyond the intro, the chord progression and accompaniment style are fairly straight forward making this song a quick and fun summer learn.

Morning – Edward Greig

While the first song does require some singing, your audience will likely do most of that work for you. If you’d rather not run even the risk of your aunt Sheila asking you to sing, let this simple melody do the work. This tune is also recognizable but many don’t know the name! Learn the song and the name for extra wow-factor and a bright, beautiful summer piece.

Experience – Ludovico Einaudi

This song is complex enough to be interesting and the repetitive melody and chord progression make it easy to master. The same patterns repeat often in slightly varied ways making this song a quick learn, and sure to “wow” whoever is listening. Furthermore, this song has also gone viral on TikTok in previous months, which means all generations will appreciate this experience.

Summertime – Ella Fitzgerald

This next selection is a little more advanced, and perfect for those post-barbecue vibes when there’s a piano there just waiting for someone to make sweet music. From the opening melody, “Summertime, and the living’s easy…” the listener is swept away into the balmy air of an evening dappled with fireflies.

Here Comes the Sun – The Beatles

Typically played on guitar, a piano version of this song would be a tasteful refresh of a classic melody. And what says “summer” more than sunshine? The melody is recognizable and occasionally features a complex rhythm that keeps the song interesting. From the first four notes, the music has hooked every listening ear.
