Our Story
In 2015, our founder Kaitlyn Davidson, was working full-time as a public school music teacher in Atlanta, but she always had a bigger vision—starting her own music school. She didn’t have investors, a business degree, or a team. Just a love for teaching and a strong desire to create something of her own.
After calling around for months, she found a local church willing to rent her a small room in the afternoons. She didn’t know how to get students, so she printed flyers at home and handed them out in the heat—hoping someone would take a chance on her. Slowly, they did.
She taught lessons after school, every weekday from 4 to 8 PM, and spent Saturdays completely booked. Her days started before sunrise and ended late, but the momentum was building. Eventually, she had a full schedule and a growing waitlist.
That’s when she made the leap—resigning from her stable public school job to go all-in on Highland Music Studio.
What began as a few piano students in a rented church room grew into something much larger. Over time, Kaitlyn expanded into a commercial space, brought on a team of talented teachers, and added more instruments—guitar, drums, violin, voice, and more. She also introduced Music Together® classes for young children and rock band programs.
Highland Music Studio was built from the ground up with a simple goal: to make learning music something people actually look forward to. Our mission is to inspire our students to be more than they thought they could be.
