With the Rock Band program at Highland Music Studio, students are given the opportunity to take their musicianship to the next level. HMS Rock Bands help students develop performance and collaboration skills, time-keeping abilities, and much more… all while making friends and creating memories that will last a lifetime! Students who participate in our Rock Bands will also get to perform in music venues around town, just like professional musicians. Rock on!
Why Join a Rock Band?
We recommend that our students join a Rock Band because:
- Students pick up musical skills that cannot be learned in music lessons alone. They will learn how to keep time with other performers, gain insight into how other instruments are played, learn how each instrument functions in a band setting… and much more!
- Students will learn performance skills and gain hands-on experience by performing live at real music venues around town.
- Students will learn to balance the individual and collaborative aspects of music. They will learn to better understand the value of individual practice, and how that enhances the group experience when the band comes together

How Does it Work?
- We recommend students be late-stage beginner to advanced levels.
- If a student is not enrolled at HMS, they must submit a video audition performing one pop or rock song of their choice.
- Students will participate in a weekly one-hour rehearsal.
- Students learn songs together with a Rock Band instructor each semester, and get to perform at music venues & studio recitals!
- A full semester commitment is required.
- Weekly one-hour rehearsals led by one of our Rock Band instructors.
- Live performance opportunities at music venues around town.
- Sheet music, tablature, and chord charts for each song.
- A free HMS Tote Bag to carry your sheet music.
