Lead Music and Development Teacher Piano | Guitar | Voice

I’ve been singing since I was very small, albeit not very well at the start. I joined a chorus as soon as I could and stayed there all the way through high school, taking a quick detour in college to study theatre education. I worked professionally as an actor for a summer before ultimately dropping out of college for two years, and when the sweet siren song of music education eventually lured me back to campus, I returned to higher education to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Music, vocal performance, and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a state certification. Since then I’ve directed middle and high school choruses, performed with and conducted community and church choirs and community string ensembles, and taught private voice, piano, and guitar lessons. I love all kinds of music from punk rock to bluegrass and I believe in meeting the student where they are in lessons and in life. I enjoy tailoring each lesson to the tastes and preferences of the student, and I believe that above all else, music should be fun. Fun fact: I’ve performed songs in 6 languages including Korean and Medieval Latin. During my college senior recital I forgot the words to a German song I was singing, so I made up German-sounding gibberish for about twelve bars until I remembered where I was in the song. Nobody ever mentioned it after the fact so I like to believe that they didn’t notice.
