SHELBEI

Piano | Ukulele | Voice

My performance history began with singing in the church choir. 20 something years later, and I still sing in the soprano section on Sundays. Eventually, church became Musical Theatre performances ranging from Fame to Once On This Island. Musical performances became competitions and society conferences (Thespians) became Musical and Assistant Directing by senior year. In the midst of that musical madness, I started recording and writing music in 2015. By 2019, I had been a Sound Technician for 2 years at my high school and concluded my work there around COVID’s arrival. After COVID, I refused to be restricted by much of anything. By the end of lockdown, I had achieved my degree in Sound Engineering and began working as a Contract Stagehand on live events. To sum me up, I try to be the person who can wear multiple hats on the team. I try to instill these same values in my style of teaching.- no restrictions. You can be, sing, express, and feel whatever the melody brings- free of judgment. I believe in betterment, not just of self but children should always leave our lessons in a better energy than they arrived. I am currently still a working artists, and I hope to now take my skills on tours and cruise lines opening up. I have about two albums worth of music to finish for rollouts, but my main goal has been finding myself again. Losing yourself as an artist is one of the biggest heartbreaks, but I got her back. I love that in teaching we can see some of these same habits in our students and catch them before they fall. I look forward to helping a lot of these talented artists soar.
