Travis embarked on his musical journey at the age of 6, profoundly influenced by the captivating chord melodies of his dad’s Wes Montgomery performances. His primary musical domain is rooted in the captivating world of jazz, a genre in which he has garnered notable accolades. In 2013, Travis clinched the prestigious Best Outstanding Instrumentalist title at the Big Apple Classic Music Festival in New York City, followed by the esteemed Louis Armstrong Jazz Award the subsequent year. He continued his musical education by earning a Bachelor’s degree at Rhode Island College, where he immersed himself in jazz studies under the mentorship of the saxophone virtuoso, Greg Abate. Travis’s impressive musical journey has seen him engage in session work for major labels such as Def Jam and Sony Entertainment. He’s also been a recording artist/producer/session musician at platinum studios in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York City.
While jazz holds a special place in Travis’s heart, he’s equally enamored with an array of genres, including blues, soul, R&B, hip-hop, and rock. In his almost two decades of experience, with fourteen years dedicated to teaching, Travis adheres to a philosophy of adaptability and individualization. This approach ensures that each of his students can not only meet but surpass their unique musical aspirations. Fun fact: Travis loves Football, Soccer, and Basketball.
